Adversity in the Ministry Free Online Research Papers As a pastor, you have to realize that ministry can be like walking on eggs at times. It does not matter what size church you might be part of, the problems you will have to deal with, will basically be the same. They are the same problems faced in the churches of the New testament. At some point, you will have to address issues of leadership, gossip, doctrine, immorality, lack of help, lack of finances and even color schemes. They might look a little different in each church setting, but are issues that had to be dealt with from the earliest times. The issues in their selves do not matter, but how you handle them means everything. How you come to handle adversity in you ministry can make or break a pastor. Paul is one of the best biblical examples to pattern after. He writes a road map for pastors in his book of Second Corinthians. Every pastor should at some point, study this letter in depth. In the first part of the letter you see Paul going through one of the most nerve wracking ,and make you want to quit, times in his entire life. He is insulted and taunted, accused of not being sincere, being prideful, and boastful. On top of all the insults they attack his preaching, his weaknesses, and call him a deceiver and cheat. Wow! , enough to make you want to turn tale and run. During all this Paul was in a lonely dungeon waiting to be beheaded, but he does not think of his problems or bemoan his lot in life, he only thinks of his beloved church at Cornith. Paul writes to Timothy about leadership and what he is telling Timothy can help all pastors today. In this letter to the Chorenthians Paul gives the New Testament’s best look at what life is like for a minister of the gospel. Paul knew that many of the leaders in Corinth wanted the glory, but only a few wanted to suffer for it, as Christ had. Paul was hurt, because his people, the people he ministered to and discipled, could not see through the self-seeking schemes of those around, trying to persuade them down the wrong path. Paul knew this could damage a church body and was dealing then with issues we still face today. In his book â€Å"Clergy Killers† G.lloyd Rediger says, â€Å"Abuse of pastors by congregations and the breakdown of pastors due to inadequate support are now tragic realities. This worst-case scenario, one that is increasing in epidemic proportions, is not a misinterpretation by a few discontented clergy. Rather,it is a phenomenon that is verified by both research and experience†¦. Pastors have become more vulnerable, parishioners more confused and less courageous, denominational offices more political, and our whole society more numb to abuse and conflict. Together these factors create opportunity for abuse of spiritual leaders and even encourage its development.† Paul faced the same dangers and knew he had to put an immediate stop to the discontent.Even though he loved the people, he knew he had to be firm, â€Å"We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.†(2 Corin. 6:12).He loved them dearly, but he loved them so much he could not let them destroy themselves. Philip E.Hughes writes, â€Å"It must be emphasized that Paul is not moved by self-concern he willingly endures for Christ’s sake any number of affronts and indignities to his own person. But when the genuineness of his apostleship is called into question, that is something he dare not endure in silence, for it is no less a challenge to the authority of Christ himself†. (The New International Commentary: second Corin. Page 477) Today our churches are loosing pastors at an alarming rate. What keeps ministers from leaving the ministry? What kind of character does a pastor need to minister to parishioners, who on the most part, love to complain, provoke and ignore? Most pastors stay the course, as Paul did, their emotions might fail them, they might become weary, but their faith in Christ never fails. Two important things are needed in a pastor’s life that helps deal with unwelcome situations, a strong sense of their call and a deep love and concern for their flock. To go along with these two essentials you need to develop strong, godly team leaders, â€Å"Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of the church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devils trap.† (1 Tim.3:2-8), having Godly people you can count on will go along way in thwarting adversity. Paul told Timothy; be zealous, be courageous, be faithful and be enduring. Ministry is like being a Farmer; your reward will come at the end, after the work is done. It’s not unusual to want to run from adversity, we are weak in the area of endurance. In your bible, it clearly shows this is not the answer. If this response was practiced many of the dearly loved bible stories would have had a different ending and would have inspired no one. We can not accomplish much that’s worthwhile and not endure opposition. Think for a moment what your parents went through raising you? Anything for our good was â€Å"old fashioned† or â€Å"you just don’t understand† We did not care for anything that was good for us. There is always a purpose for adversity. It’s also two-sided, one side positive; stimulating you to spiritual growth; the opposite side has the potential to defeat and destroy your ministry. Sometimes, the purpose is to keep us humble and our egos in check. The main reason is to grow our trust and faith in God and his ability. When we turn to him, his promise to be our strength will carry us through. The way we respond to adversity shows our true view of God. Many times we ask â€Å"why lord†, sometimes God shows us and sometimes he never makes it known. At times God has to prepare our hearts before he shows us his purpose. Other times adversity comes because of some sin in our lives; pride being the biggest offender. If we search our hearts we can see this might be so and confess and repent; usually the adversity goes with the repentance. Sometimes adversity is the enemy’s doing. In the book of Job (1:6-12) satin brought temptation into Job’s life. Temptations are the underlying factor in much of our troubles. Satin is not allowed, however, to do anything God does not permit. All adversity comes from us, from satin, working around us and in others, or from what God allows in our lives. Nothing happens in our life outside the knowledge of God, who strengthens us to overcome all. Adversity reveals our weaknesses and our strengths. It reveals our willingness to forgive, and it increases our faith in god. Good advice in handling adversity is to face it and not run from it. We can never get far from it, as it always follows, wherever we may run or what church we may try to find. The goal is not to have a problem free ministry; this will never happen. Your goal should be to deal with problems, and problem people, in a biblical manner. Sometimes as pastors, we light the fuse ourselves, because of the way we deal with problems; we need to be skillful and biblical. Adversity is an accurate gage of our spiritual life. If we want to measure our level of faith, we need to look at how we handle our troubles. We need to ask ourselves; how am I handling my circumstances? Am I exhibiting patience, self-control and love? Am I relying on God’s strength and not my own? God has called you to minister to his beloved people; do not be fearful and do not give up. â€Å"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. Typical Course of Study for 10th Graders By 10th grade, most students have acclimated to life as a high school student. That means they should be primarily independent learners with good time management skills and a sense of personal responsibility for completing their assignments. The goal of  high school coursework for 10th-grade students is to prepare them for life after high school, either as a college student or a member of the workforce. Coursework should also ensure that students are equipped to perform at their best for college entrance exams if secondary education is their goal. Language Arts Most colleges expect a high school graduate to have completed four years of language arts. A typical course of study for 10th-grade language arts will include literature, composition, grammar, and vocabulary. Students will continue to apply the techniques theyve learned from analyzing texts. Tenth-grade literature will likely include American, British, or world literature. The choice may be determined by the homeschool curriculum a student is using.   Some families may also choose to incorporate the literature component with social studies. So a student studying world history in 10th grade would choose titles associated with world or British literature. A student studying U.S. history would choose American literature titles. Students may also analyze short stories, poems, dramas, and myths.  Greek and Roman mythology are popular topics for 10th-graders. Continue to provide students with a variety of writing practice across all subject areas, including science, history, and social studies. Math Most colleges expect four years of high school math credit. A typical course of study for 10th-grade math will have students completing geometry or Algebra II to fulfill their math credit for the year. Students who completed prealgebra in ninth grade will usually take Algebra I in 10th, while students who are strong in math may take an advanced algebra course, trigonometry, or precalculus. For teens who are weak in math or who have special needs, courses such as basic mathematics or consumer or business math can fulfill math credit requirements. 10th Grade Science Options If your student is college-bound, he will likely need three lab science credits. Common 10th-grade science courses include biology, physics, or chemistry. Most students complete chemistry after successfully completing Algebra II. Interest-led science courses may include astronomy, marine biology, zoology, geology, or anatomy and physiology.   Other common topics for 10th-grade science include the characteristics of life, classification, simple organisms (algae, bacteria, and  fungi), vertebrates and invertebrates,  mammals and birds, photosynthesis, cells, protein synthesis,  DNA-RNA, reproduction and growth, and nutrition and digestion. Social Studies Many 10th-grade college-bound students will study United States history during their sophomore year. World history is another option. Homeschool students following a traditional curriculum will explore the Middle Ages. Other alternatives include a U.S. civics and economics course, psychology, world geography, or sociology. Specialized history studies based on a students interests are usually acceptable as well, such as a focus on World War II, European history, or modern wars. A typical course of study may also include prehistoric peoples and the earliest civilizations, ancient civilizations (such as Greece, India, China, or Africa), the  Islamic world, the Renaissance, the rise and fall of monarchies, the French Revolution,  and the Industrial Revolution. Modern history studies should include science and industry, the world wars, the Cold War, the  Vietnam War, the rise and fall of Communism,  the collapse of the Soviet Union, and world interdependence. Electives Electives can include topics such as art, technology, and foreign language, but students can earn elective credit for almost any area of interest. Most 10th graders will begin the study of a foreign language since it is common for colleges to require two years credit for the same language. French and Spanish are standard choices, but almost any language can count toward the two credits. Some colleges even accept American Sign Language.   Drivers education is another excellent option for a high school sophomore since most are 15 or 16 years old and ready to begin driving. The requirements for a drivers education course may vary by state. A defensive driving course can be helpful and may result in an insurance discount.

Morality vs. Obedience Essay Beliefs and knowledge are both dynamic concepts on all organizational levels of the human experience, from the individual to the global. Lets take for example the statement, â€Å"The Earth is flat. † Five hundred years ago, this statement was knowledge. Today, it’s knowledge that this statement is false. Knowledge changes based on the information and evidence available to us at any point in time. This is also true of beliefs but in a different way. When most of us were young, we believed in the Tooth Fairy. Why? Because someone told us she was real. However, this belief changed as we began to mature and rely more upon our own abilities to discern truth from fiction. Thus, we have established that both knowledge and belief are subjective but for different reasons. Belief requires no evidence, while knowledge requires evidence and/or experience. I would now like to make a comparative argument regarding morality and obedience. Simply put, morality is ‘doing what’s right, regardless of what anyone says’ and obedience is ‘doing what your told, regardless of what’s right. One can think of many examples regarding these concepts as they are defined but I will leave this to the reader’s imagination. There is a simple truth to defining obedience and morality in this manner that I find directly comparable to the examined quotation. Neither belief nor obedience require an individual or group to actively engage in an activity or thought process independently. There is no critical thinking involved and one must put their faith in the ‘rightness’ or ‘truth’ of another’s belief, knowledge or otherwise. Both knowledge and morality require active engagement. One cannot possess knowledge without having evidence to back it up and one cannot act morally without understanding what it is that makes a situation right or wrong in their eyes. This is especially true when acting morally requires someone to go against social norms or established laws. The point of this paper is to shed light on the fact that we are all responsible for ourselves to the extent that we can be. No one person can know everything about everything, so belief and obedience are often useful and easy fallbacks. For example, I don’t snowboard on black diamond slopes. This is not because I have knowledge of how hurt I will get but because I belief the sign posting and obediently board within my level to avoid possible injury. However, in every decision one makes there should be a component of knowledge and morality applied. In application to the snowboarding example, I know, from experience, that my snowboarding skills are not on par with a black diamond. I choose not to risk my health and the resources of first responders by making the moral decision to stay off of it, despite my desire to challenge myself.

When the Roman empire fell, it left many wealthy landowners spread throughout the European landscape. For every wealthy landowner there were many poorer, less prominent ex-roman citizens. AThey decided therefore to commend themselves to landlords, surrendering to a lord in return for safety and the right to farm the properties@ (Bunsen 179). This was the beginning of the feudal nations. Other provinces would evolve, but for the most part these were the more prominent countries. The children of the men who owned the land would inherit the land as well as any other property owned by their fathers. This tradition kept rich people rich and poor people poor. People who exchanged their land for protection were shielded from opposing enemies by knights, infantrymen and horsemen. "The vassal rendered to his lord certain services in addition to supplying his quota of armed knights " (Bishop 110). The primary defense for a lord was his knight. AThe knights formed the core of the lord=s household; many of them lived permanently within the castle walls and were fed and housed by him@ (Barbara 269). Knights that were given homage by their lords did not really need any land but were still paid in fiefs, which were stretches of land paid to whomever. AThese household knights did not need a grant of land on which to live, though they often received it all the same@ (Barbara 269). Sales is proportional to the number of products sold so forecasting sales in advance would tell how much supplies the store need to order. Sales is projected daily or weekly and is based on the store’s sales history. From the sales history, the store manager can determine the store’s day type. The day type refers to the categories of a day’s performance.These are Slack, Semi-Peak, and Peak. Knowing the store’s day types will help the store manager determine the sales projection. Production Scheduling Production scheduling is done after determining the demand for each of the products. Each of the product has different production schedules. This is because the demand of one product is different from the demand of another product. They have also different times of peak sales. The prerequisites of the actual order of daily supplies are: . forecasted sales – is based on store’s sales history. 2. adjusted sales – sales is adjusted for unexpected occurrences. 3. stock factor – amount or volume of a product or a raw material needed to serve customer demand for every hundred pesos of sales. SF=Average Quantity of Products Sold Average daily Sales 4. forecast stock – refers to the number of items to be stocked in the store for a given type. FS=Adjusted Sales x Stock Factor of Raw Material 5. ending balance – remaining available stock of items prior to ordering. 6. aily supplies requisition form – is a form used to compute the actual order of daily items. It includes a list of the wet /frozen/bakery items. AO=Forecast Stock  œ Ending Balance The prerequisites of the actual order of weekly supplies are: 1. average daily usage – average daily usage, or ADU, is the average quantity of items sold in one week. It is affected only when there is a change in the weekly sales forecast or weekly sales trend. It does not include bulk orders. ADU =Total quantity of products sold for one week 7 days 2. rdering cycle – is the sum (in days) of the delivery interval, forecast usage coverage and buffer period. 3. stock build up – total usage for the whole length of the ordering cycle. It also represents forecast stock. SB=Ordering cycle ADU 4. par stocking – average quantity of stock needed to sufficiently supply the needs of the store for the whole ordering cycle. 5. ending balance – remaining available stock of supplies. 6. weekly supplies requisition form – is a form used to compute the actual order of weekly items. ANALYSIS OF THE COMPANY’S PRODUCTION PROCESS Forecasting is an indispensabl e tool in the production process of Jollibee Foods Corporation. Demand is forecasted based on the sales of the store for the past periods. This data can be obtained from its sytem called iBOS. This forecasted data is adjusted for some occurrences or factors that might affect their sales in the period that the store is forecasting. This forecast is then translated to production schedules of different products. After making the production schedules, the Production Quality Manager (PQM) performs the supplies planning.Jollibee Corporation has policies and processes concerning supplies planning and requisition. The PQM of each store has the hand on how to go about the planning and ordering of supplies needed for his/her respective store. Jollibee Corporation has already installed a system of ordering supplies needed by its store branches – the AMWS. Jollibee, City of San Fernando branch has the following system of production. The schedule of ordering for wet/frozen supplies is eve ry Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Delivery of such has a lead time of 2 days. On the other hand, schedule of ordering for dry supplies is every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, with a lead time of 3 days.If the PQM Manager has already placed his/her order and there are some unexpected orders that can affect the consumption of supplies, he or she has the benefit of making adjustments to his or her order a day before the delivery date through its system — AMWS. Special Holidays and events are highlighted in the store’s calendar to incorporate these in the determination of demand and to prevent stock out of supplies. If there is really an unexpected bulk order, and the store cannot accommodate such order, the store has the option to decline the order. Otherwise, the store borrows from another store in the area to avoid opportunity loss from that order. V. RECOMMENDATIONOur modern technology is continually giving advances to business organizations. And Jollibee is one of thos e that continue to search for more improvements in their systems concerning their operations. With the case of iBOS, the product quality manager can easily create, modify, inquire and maintain useful data by just a click of a mouse. Once the program/system is entered into the computer, the PQM is supplied with needed information on inventory balance, order listing and sales. Truly, the advantage of this system is to increase the productivity of the PQM and making it accessible to other department managers who might need the above mentioned data in making business decisions.Poor decisions may affect the firm’s profits by requiring expensive corrective actions and may be driven out of business by a much more vigilant competitors.
